“Constructing Our Own Theologies”

Note: a change of location, this Sunday’s service will be at the home of the Grindelands, 3753 Wescott Hills Drive Eagan, MN 55123

Have you ever wondered about your own beliefs in terms of “theology?” Theology is “the study of all things divine” – and is one of the oldest of the first three Western academic disciplines – theology, science/medicine and law. Interestingly enough, theology has been often called “the queen of the sciences,” even though in the last couple of centuries, theology has been often painted as incompatible with science. One of the most formidable changes in the progressive schools of theology over the last several decades is a shift from studying theology as “systematic” to “constructive.” Such an evolution in Western theological study has – whether we realize it or not – served as a very important foundation for Unitarian Universalism’s ongoing transformation. Join us this Sunday for a “lesson” focusing on the development of constructive theology and how that impacts our own individual and communal faith journeys in our congregation and in the wider progressive religious community.
