“The Spiritual Practice of Creating New Traditions”

As our congregation continues on its journey of renewal and revisioning, this Sunday we will be discussing what it means to spiritually seek new ways of doing things in 21st Century church.  Phyllis Tickle (1934-2015), under whom Pastor Bryan had the privilege of studying, was well known for her scholarly research surrounding what she called “The Great Emergence” of the 21st Century – a radical shift in Western theological and ministerial practices, along with a redevelopment of congregational practices.  The Great Emergence is upon us now, many scholars agree, and the spiritual practice – as well as the reflective practice of “praxis” offers a myriad of possibilities for the evolutionary future of congregational transitions.  Join us for a rich reflection on spiritual engagement that leads to innovatively creating new traditions in “doing church” and transforming – at least in part – the future of Western faith.
