A Journey of Music: Make Complexity a Friend

Before moving to Eagan, Suki Sun spent 10 years living in Manhattan. During the isolated period of the COVID-19 pandemic, she picked up her violin again after a 25-year hiatus. She learned to play the violin in China, but never had the chance to play in an ensemble or an orchestra. Now she plays in the East Metro Symphony Orchestra, Linden Hill Chamber Orchestra, and Northwood Ensemble, a new tango music group that will debut at the Parkway Theatre in the Minnesota Tango Festival in May. Playing with other musicians radically changes her view on musical harmony, interpersonal compassion, and spiritual healing. In her presentation, she will share her Aha moments of re-learning the music in various community settings and how it has helped her to cultivate a new perspective to balance the small self and the big SELF, and the courage to embrace the imperfection, making complexity a friend.
