“Making Sense of the Madness: When the Underling Comes Uppermost”

Victor Turner the great anthropologist once wrote, “In liminality, the underling comes
uppermost.” Tom Esch a former Catholic priest turned communications consultant and
performance-artist-comic will help us explore what this might mean for us. In the midst
of the on-going pandemic, the political polarization and the current racial unrest how
does the “underling” come “uppermost”, and what does it mean for us?
