On Friday, December 22 @ 7 PM, DUUC will host a new type of winter service which points toward the Yule celebration that will recreate the ancient “earthy solstice” traditions that eventually became the “Festival of Lessons and Carols” in the Anglican/Episcopal tradition.  Instead of just the Christian tradition, though, our “Festival of Wisdom and Song” will celebrate the rebirth of the light, one day after the Solstice – as the days start getting longer again.  Pastors Bryan Demeritte and Barbara May will co-lead this service, while we join in 9 wisdom readings from a variety of religious sources, mostly anchored in indigenous earth-based traditions. Then, before and in between each of the wisdom readings, we will sing corresponding wisdom-laden seasonally themed songs, hymns and have special music.  Join us for this very special non-traditional, re-traditional, traditional service! It will be at the same location of our Sunday services (Aslan Institute), we will update the information. Watch this space!
